Truckee Orienteering

A racing and training club for orienteering - on foot, mtb, skis, or in adventure races.

2015 brings the fourth summer training season for Truckee. Each Wednesday evening will have a different training course set up: 30-60 minutes depending on the course. Checkpoints will be little pin flags or mini-controls, with no punches. Interval starts, 6pm.

Cost is $20 for the season, for any number of trainings, to cover printing and ink costs for the maps.

Information for each weeks training usually goes out by email a few days before. Registration is by lunch time each event day - just send me an email that says you're coming, so I know how many maps to print. If I don't hear from you, I probably won't have a map for you.

June 3 - Tahoe Donner

The season starts with an easy sprint at TD. Starts will be at 6pm from the end of Alder Creek Road, here.

June 10 - Donner Lake

Quick sprint around Donner SP, starting from the wooden fence at the east end: here. New improved contours on the map! 6pm.

The rain cleared and it was actually pretty nice out there.

June 17 - Donner Lake

Back at Donner Lake, but from the Coldstream parking lot here. This is just before the gravel pit. Start will be from here, 6pm.

June 24 - Prosser

Sprint course in Prosser, across from the OHV parking on 89: here. Starts at 6pm.

We can happily report that there is not any less sagebrush out there this year. Map.

July 1 - Donner Lake

Its Canada Day, so Carol is going to set us a Canadian flag shaped line-o. Looks like the best place to do this will be Donner Lake, so we're headed back there this week, from the Coldstream parking lot: here. 6pm.

Here's the line, and here are the answers to where the controls were.

July 8 - Boreal

Anna is setting a training course up at Boreal. This is tricky! One of the most technical maps around Truckee. Not sure how the mosquitos are up there these days, but probably bad.

Starts at 6pm from the PCT trailhead here at the Boreal Exit of 80. Start will be from that parking lot.

July 15 - Prosser MTB-O

Carol W has set a course up on Fiberboard.

Directions: 267 to the top of Brockway Summit, then west on the paved road (Mt Watson rd) to the dirt pulloff here.

Starts at 6pm, course is 3.7km, with a cutoff to make it 3km if you want.
