Truckee Orienteering

A racing and training club for orienteering - on foot, mtb, skis, or in adventure races.

2016 brings the fifth summer training season for Truckee. Moved to Thursday evenings this year, we'll have a different training course set up: 30-60 minutes depending on the course. Checkpoints will be little pin flags or mini-controls, sometimes with sportident punching and sometimes just flags. Interval starts, 6pm.

Cost is $20 for the season, for any number of trainings, to cover printing and ink costs for the maps.

Information for each weeks training usually goes out by email a few days before. Registration is by lunch time each event day - just send me an email that says you're coming, so I know how many maps to print. If I don't hear from you, I probably won't have a map for you.

May 26 - Tahoe Donner

Easy sprint at TD to start the year and play with some new SI toys. Starts will be at 6pm from the end of Alder Creek Road, here.

June 2 - Prosser

Sprint course in Prosser, across from the OHV parking on 89: here. Starts at 6pm.

June 9 - Donner Lake

Touchless SI sprint on the new section of the Donner Lake map. Start will be in the far parking area inside the park here, so you can either pay to drive into the park ($8?), park outside in one of the usual spots and run in (about a mile), or drive all the way around Donner Lake and park at the end of the South Shore Dr and run in (about 100m).

June 16 - Prosser

Carol is setting a Sprint course in Prosser, across from the OHV parking on 89: here. Starts at 6pm.

June 30 - Glacier Way

New map at the top of TD, from the Glacier Way parking lot here. Starts at 6pm.

July 7 - Fiberboard

SI butterfly sprint up on the top of Fiberboard.

Directions: 267 to the top of Brockway Summit, then west on the paved road (Mt Watson rd) to here. Parking is along the main road, please don't block the gate!

Starts at 6pm.

July 14 - Donner Lake

Quick sprint around the campground end of Donner Lake.

July 28 - Tahoe Donner

Race around the lower xc area of TD. Start from the end of Alder Creek Rd (here), 6pm.

August 25 - Boreal

Short course up from the PCT trailhead.

Sept 1 - Burton Creek

Field trip down to Tahoe City to run at Burton Creek SP. Maybe a rerun of an old course, maybe something new! Starts from the TahoeXC ski area parking lot, here, 6pm

Sept 8 - Glacier Way
